5 Star ReviewKarter Montessori is a fantastic and safe learning environment for young kids. The new owners and staff are knowledgeable, experienced, and caring. They have made beautiful upgrades to the building and playground with dedicated spaces for robotics, cooking classes, dance, bicycles, and gardening. Their wonderful and experienced teachers get to know the kids well, care deeply about their well being, and make strong connections with us as parents. Our children have always thrived intellectually through the Montessori approach here, and that is flourishing under the new leadership.

5 Star ReviewWe are very happy at the new Karter Montessori. Having stayed through the ownership transition, the majority of the schools experienced, dedicated and loving teachers have stayed on. The new owner and director are making positive changes to the school, both structural and curricular. These changes show a strong commitment to providing an enriched early education experience that is strongly based in Montessori principles.

My toddler looks forward to coming here and likes his teachers. It is a warm and welcoming place, and we look forward to seeing it grow.

5 Star ReviewWe have been at Karter School for two months and truly enjoying all it has to offer. We absolutely love the infant room teacher, Ms Marlenni, who has taught both our daughter and our son and is currently our sons teacher.

She first referred us to the school and as hard as schools transitions go she helped us make ours to Karter very easy. She helped me with learning tadpoles, which is the communication app. She is also so easy to talk to and really takes to heart what needs to be done to run a successful and educational environment, esp for the infants. Since our son has been there and been with Ms Marlenni he has helped maintain his routine, along with up to 5 other infants, and he is surpassing his milestones and coming home so happy. She does a wonderful job using many of her natural talents to build a wonderful education environment for my young kids. We are eternally grateful to her and for Karter School.

5 Star ReviewAfter researching and visiting many schools, I decided to go with the Karter School. As soon as I walked in, I knew that this was the place I wanted my kids to be in. I have yet to see a school so beautiful, with a curriculum so unique and teachers who are so loving. Speaking of teachers, I can’t write this review without mentioning all the teachers we love, from Ms. Vivianne, Ms Louisa, Ms Brynn, Ms Richa, Mr. Ryan, Ms Xiaowei, Ms Natalia, Ms Carol, and of course Ms Terri who makes it all happen. The front staff is attentive, patient, friendly and have a genuine interest in creating an interactive, fun environment for the kids. Did I mention the school looks and feels like Disneyland?! Check it out! You won’t be disappointed!!!

Longtime Montessori students generally have strong self-awareness, self-acceptance, and social skills. The benefit of learning with concrete materials is demonstrated most powerfully in higher education when students commonly demonstrate a seemingly innate understanding of advanced math, analytical capacity, creativity, and critical thinking.

Benefits of Practical Life

Through our practical life area, children learn how to care for themselves, take care of their classroom environment, food preparations and wonderful grace and courtesy lessons. These lessons support the development of executive functioning as each child learns time management, multi-step activities, and problem solving skills.

The children learn through purposeful lessons which builds confidence and promotes independence.

Benefits of Sensorial

Sensorial experiences begin right when a child is born. Children use all their senses in order to study their environment. By participating in sensory activities, children can consciously and unconsciously absorb clear information that helps them classify and make sense of their surroundings.

Sensorial lessons in our Montessori classrooms help children differentiate which in turn broadens and refines the child’s senses. When the child combines Montessori materials with sensorial work, they become more logical, perceptive, and aware of the world around them. Sensorial lessons prepares the child’s mathematical mind.

Why Montessori Teaches Mathematics This Way

Dr. Montessori believed that learning by manipulating objects and learning through the senses creates stronger connections in the brain.

Math gives children visual and tactile representations of the numbers they are working with. Our mathematics program begins with the identification and comparison of size using the sensorial materials. Children then learn the names and symbols of numbers, correspond the symbols to quantities, and subsequently count into the thousands. Children add and subtract, skip-count for multiplication, and perform simple division. Geometry and fractions are introduced from an early age.

Practical life and Sensorial areas lay a strong foundation for the language area. The language area encompasses oral, reading and writing lessons. Children learn oral language naturally and automatically from the classroom environment. The child learns the phonetic sounds of each letter by tracing the sandpaper letters. This leads the child to  build and read words and is introduced to writing.
