About Karter Montessori

Karter Montessori was founded by passionate Montessori educators and are committed to creating authentic Montessori schools with a family atmosphere. They seek to achieve a learning environment that fosters love and respect for one another, as well as the world around us.

Melissa Ann Camuti

One of our founders, Melissa Ann Camuti,  believes “Montessori truly lays the foundation for life: children become capable, independent doers, ready to happily embrace challenges, both academic and social, as they grow.” She is a mother to three Montessori children who started in infant and toddler classrooms through elementary age. She has watched her own children’s journey through the years and has spent most of her career in Montessori and completed her Masters in Education from Chaminade University in Honolulu. Melissa Ann has a family of Montessorians as her husband and sister are also Montessori educators.

Kristina Darr

Kris grew up on a small farm in northern New Jersey, and was excited to move to the “big city”. Living in and around Philadelphia for almost 10 years, she received her BS in Elementary Education from St. Joseph’s University. After moving to Maryland with her husband, I worked in Washington, DC before discovering Montessori in Northern Virginia. Kris completed her Primary Montessori training and received an AMS credential.

Kris wanted her son to have the amazing benefits of a Montessori education which he did from Toddler through 5th grade. He enjoys reading and learning, hunting and fishing. Watching him grow into the hard working, kind young man he has become, only solidifies how important an early Montessori education is. To share that love of learning is what it’s all about for Kris.
